Forty-one years to the day after the last American troops were in Vietnam, the state of Texas will welcome its Vietnam Veterans home as the Texas Capitol Vietnam Veterans Monument is dedicated on March 29, 2014. The date has been officially designated as "Texas Vietnam Veterans Day" by the Texas legislature. The Saturday ceremony and family-friendly "Welcome Home Fair" saluting our state's Vietnam Veterans at the State Capitol is free and open to the public. The monument dedication ceremony will occur at 10:00 a.m. on the northeast side of the Capitol grounds. TheTexas Vietnam Heroes Exhibit will be displayed for the public in the Lower Rotunda of the Capitol, and the grounds will include Vietnam-era military equipment and educational exhibits on display throughout the day. Program and exhibit specifics will be forthcoming soon. We hope all Texas Vietnam veterans and their families will make plans to attend this event to honor your service to our nation! In order to assist the monument dedication committee in planning this event, we would like to know if you will join us for this momentous occasion.
