Vietnam Veterans of America chapter officially formed in El Campo, Texas - Friday, June 28, 2012
A new local chapter of the Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) was officially formed Thursday, June 28, 2012, at Mikeska’s Barbecue on Hwy. 59,
in El Campo, Texas. The 30 charter members come from Wharton, Jackson and Brazoria counties, and those member's elected officers, including
Leonard Sternadel of El Campo as president; Richard Lindley of Louise, vice president; John Steelman of El Campo, secretary and Frank
Laitkep of Wharton, treasurer. Sternadel also appointed a three-member board of directors: Frank Kulcak, Park Christenberry and David
Juranek, all of El Campo, Texas.
Newly-elected officers and appointed directors were installed by Mike Dawson, VVA Texas State Council Chapter Start-Up Coordinator, who traveled
from Harker Heights Texas for the meeting.
After the installation ceremony, Dawson gave an overview of the state and national levels of the VVA and entertained questions from the
members. Sternadel then conducted the meeting, which included discussion of membership recruitment, monthly meeting location and chapter
goals.
