-
President Sternadel introduced 4 new members. 1 from Wharton Texas, 2 from East Bernard Texas & 1 from Markham Texas.
-
President Sternadel then presented Walmart gift certificates to three Mikeska employees for their generous help serving
our members at the meeting meal and for their help in setting up our meeting room - Chapter 1069 Thanks you all! The Chapter
would also like to Thank the Mikeska family for their generous support of VVA Chapter 1069 and providing a wonderful monthly
meeting facility for us.
-
President Sternadel then proposed that the Chapter should make another generous monetary donation to the TCVVM project.
A motion was made & seconded, and so the proposal was approved. The latest information regarding the TCVVM project
states that there is approximately $200,000 still needed to pay for the TCVVM project funding.
-
President Sternadel reminded the members that the next Texas State Council meeting would be held on April 4-6 in Killeen, Tx.
He urged Chapter officers and members to consider attending so that Chapter 1069 would be represented at the VVA State meeting.
-
Ed Kulcak (Chapter 1069 Board member) then presented and reported on a project he has been working on for the Chapter. Ed has
proposed that special wind-breaker type jackets be designed and made available for purchase by Chapter members. The wind-breakers
would be embroidered with the VVA logo and the member's name, military organization & time in service, along with any other
information the member may choose to have put on the wind-breaker. We will shortly have sample pictures available here on the
website for viewing.
-
President Sternadel also discussed the upcoming "Everyday Heroes" fundraiser & public auction being held on April 26 at
the "Surfside Marina", located down at Surfside (Texas) beach. All the funds raised at the event goes to the "Everyday Heroes"
Veterans organization (homebase in El Campo, Texas), and helps pay for the "Everyday Heroes" Veterans Transportation Van (a van
that runs daily from El Campo to the Houston De Bakey VA Medical Center), and for providing electric mobility scooters/chairs
for local disabled Veterans. President Sternadel said that our Chapter should help and show support for the "Everyday
Heroes" organization by attending the fundraising event - please consider attending the event. If attending the event, you
should wear your VVA/Vietnam Veteran cap and any other Veteran clothing you wish to wear. More information about the
"Everyday Heroes" transportaion van can be seen HERE.
