The monthly chapter meeting was held at Mikeska’s BBQ, El Campo, TX., this past Wednesday.
-
There were 50 members and guests present, along with 8 spouses. Another great turnout! Thanks to all those who attended!
-
President Leonard Sternadel declared the meeting open at 19:00 hours and the following business was transacted.
-
The Pledge of Allegiance to the flag was recited and a prayer was said.
-
Following the prayer, Supak played a newly discovered music video on our projector screen. It is called "Names On A Wall" and
is a very moving song & video about the Vietnam Wall. Use the link below to view the video on Youtube, however, be prepared
and have a tissue box handy.

Charles Chappell was introduced as a prospective member for the chapter.
-
The meeting was recessed for the meal and reconvened at 19:45. Note that we had to start our meeting a bit earlier than usual
because of the raffle drawing and not knowing how much time that would consume. Note that we are still required to be out of
Mikeska's by 9:00 PM. President Sternadel wanted to apologize for cutting into our member's dinner and social time - he realizes
that this time is important to our members as a time when everyone can converse with fellow veterans.
-
The minutes of the last meeting were approved as presented.
-
VVA Chapter 1069's Service Officer, Dwight Winkler, presented the members a handout of VA benefits that included his contact
information. He again stated that Liberty Tax Service would provide free filing for veterans. You can view his handout for this
meeting and his contact information, on his webpage - use the link below.

Sternadel reminded all that the Travelling Wall will be back in El Campo July 16-20, 2015. Saturday the 18th will be the day for
the Memorial Project for the crosses for the fallen local and area veterans along with placing a rose on each cross. Member
participation is needed to help with the events for the day. He also thanked Supak for his work in completing the crosses.
-
Two photo versions of the small Memorial Crosses (that will be part of the KIA Memorial Crosses Ceremony) have been created.
One of them will be used for promotional advertisments for the upcoming Traveling Wall event coming to El Campo in July. Both
photos were presented to the chapter Wednesday night and a vote was taken as to which one the chapter liked best. The results
were unanimous and the 2nd photo below (with the Vietnam Wall in background) was the winning photo.

The bus trip to Austin for the Texas Capital Vietnam Veterans Monument was discussed – we're now looking at maybe making the
trip some time in the fall. Use the link below to read the report on the chapter's last bus trip to Austin for the TCVVM
dedication ceremony.

The annual "Everyday Heroes" fundraiser is being scheduled for maybe sometime in May. The Everyday Heroes chairman again
invites all VVA chapter members to come to the event. Those members who rode the buses to attend the event last year, down
at Surfside Marina, had a great time. Use link below to read the report on last year's chapter trip to the fundraiser in Surfside.

Stephen Brady reported on the recent executive TSC meeting and urged the members to nominate members for state recognition.
-
The raffle drawing was held and fourteen lucky winners walked away with some great prizes. The raffle turned out to be a great success and we came close to reaching our maximum goal. The chapter officers and Directors want to thank all chapter members who sold tickets! And much thanks to those who participated in the prompt return of unsold tickets and those who re-distributed unsold tickets to those members who wanted more tickets. All that effort really paid off in the end. A more detailed report about the raffle and results will be presented at the next meeting. And finally, much thanks goes out to James Kulcak for running this 2nd chapter raffle project. And much thanks to those members & spouses at the Wednesday meeting who helped take in ticket money and stuffed tickets into the revolving ticket barrel!

There being no further business, President Sternadel declared the meeting adjourned at 20:40.
