- The monthly VVA chapter 1069 meeting was held in the big banquet room at Mikeska's BBQ (located on Hwy 59), in El Campo, TX.

VVA Chapter 1069 President, Leonard Sternadel, declared the meeting open at 1900 hours and the following
business was transacted.
- The Pledge of Allegiance to the flag was recited and a prayer was said.
- The following Board members were present: Sternadel, Steelman, F. Kulcak, Laitkep, Neumann, Supak and Woods.
- Two new prospective members were recognized, Robert Robinson & his wife Evelyn, and Tim Dybala.
- The meeting was then recessed for the meal and reconvened at 1945.
- The minutes of the last meeting were approved as presented.

- President Sternadel then stated that an Agent Orange Town Hall meeting that was being considered in Victoria for next year may have hit a snag in planning, and at the current time, the event is on hold. More information will be forthcoming.

He then reminded everyone of the upcoming VVA Chapter 1069 Vietnam Veteran's Day Celebration at FB Helen, which is
intended for for all VVA chapter 1069 members and family. The event is currently scheduled
for Saturday, November 12, 2016 (please mark you calendars). A head count of all
chapter members and their family members who will be attending is needed asap. Please contact Sternadel or Steelman
to let them know if you and any family members will be attending, and total attending. Sternadel also emphasized
that we should all make an effort to attend this gathering as it is a wonderful opportunity for all of us to get
together and to also include our family members.
In a nutshell, everyone needs to come out for a day of relaxation and fun - as ordered by our chapter President!
- The GI Joe/GI Jane program is coming up and we will need a few volunteers to help box up the goodies. The actual dates are pending, and will be given out at the next meeting.
- The Chapter Christmas party will be held on December 14th - same time, same place. More information will be forthcoming at next month's chapter meeting.
- Sternadel thanked all those chapter members & spouses that attended Barbara Stephenson's funeral in El Campo. Again, Barbara is the wife of Representative Phil Stephenson. He is a member of the Texas House of Representatives, in Austin. He represents District 85 (Fort Bend, Jackson & Wharton Counties). Both Barbara and Phil are enthusiastic supporters of Veterans and of VVA Chapter 1069. Phil has spoken at several of our chapter meetings.
- The semiannual VVA Texas State Council (TSC) meeting will be held this weekend in Killeen. Chapter member, Stephen Brady, will be attending to represent our chapter. Stephen has also been assigned the duties as our new "VVA Chapter 1069 Coordinator", on the state level.
- Sternadel then mentioned that there is a new VVA chapter being formed in Columbus Texas, and said he may be helping them to get that chapter up and running. We wish them well!
- Sternadel then asked the membership if there was any interest in our chapter participating in the upcoming 2016 El Campo Christmas Parade. There was none. Note that our chapter had participated in the El Campo Christmas parade two previous years (2013 & 2014). Sternadel also added that chapter member and Louise resident, John Bubela, was ill and
was currently staying in the Garden Villa Nursing Home (room 58), located in El Campo. John would appreciate any short
visits by our chapter members. Unfortunately, John also lost his wife last year. If you have a few minutes, please take
the time to visit John and tell him hello. John of course is a Vietnam veteran. He served 2 tours in Vietnam (1965 & 1968)
and also put in 20 years with the Army. He is a proud veteran and has a heck of a story to tell regarding his Army
carreer - just ask him about it when you go visit him. John is in room 58.
