VVA Chapter 1069 Meeting Report for: March, 3-9-2016

The meeting was held at Mikeska’s BBQ, El Campo, TX.

President Leonard Sternadel declared the meeting open at 1900 hours and the following business was transacted.

The Pledge of Allegiance to the flag was recited and a prayer was said.
-
Sternadel then introduced Jackie Saucedo as a new member.

The meeting was then recessed for the meal and reconvened at 1945.
-
The minutes of the last meeting were approved as presented.
-
The chapter's bank balance was presented by the secretary, John Steelman.
-
Sternadel then appointed Rusty Butts, Ron Miller and Louis Milder to the Audit Committee.

The chapter's VSO Dwight Winkler, presented a handout with valuable information concerning Group 6, Eligibility

The annual chapter catfish fry will be held at the Sternadel’s pond on Saturday, May 14th. For those of you who may
have not yet attended one of our annual "Catfish Catch, Clean, Fry & Eat" events, use the

The annual Chapter "Stand Down" will be held at firebase Helen on Saturday, June 11th.

A trip to Gonzales to visit the “The Wall That Heals” is scheduled for Thursday, March 24th.

The VVA National Board of Directors approval of Motions 7, 13 and 14 was noted. Information regarding these 3 motions can be

A reminder that the Spring VVA TSC (Texas State Council) Conference/Meeting will be held in Victoria April 15-16. The conference
is being held at the Hilton Garden Inn hotel, 123 Huvar St., Victoria, Texas. The State Council meeting
itself will be held on Saturday, April 16, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Everyday Heroes is offering the 15-passenger van to bring
any interested members to Saturday’s meeting. Total trip time would be 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. There will be no charge for the trip.
Lunch is at your own expense.

Sternadel stated that Congressman Blake Farenthold will be conducting a Town Hall meeting on Friday,
March 11, at Prasek’s Hillje Smokehouse, 11:30-12:30. Optional brisket lunch will be available for $12. More information

Sternadel then introduced Wharton County Commissioner, Chris King. Chris and Debbie presented the Chapter
with a great, very popular, Vietnam Memorial picture/print simply titled “Reflections”, created by painter, Lee Teter. It was
beautifully framed and will be mounted behind the podium for members to reflect upon during the meetings. King has been a huge
supporter of not only the Vietnam Veterans, but all the veterans of the Wharton County and surrounding area. A great big
THANK YOU goes out to Chris and Debbie from VVA Chapter 1069!

Memorial Poster" or just simply "Reflections". The original painting was painted
by a man named "Lee Teter", with the help of the members of VVA Chapter
172, located in Cumberland, Maryland. And actually, the individuals in the painting are members of VVA Chapter
