Vice President, Leonard Sternadel then presented the following chapter business.
-
The main item on the agenda for this meeting was the selection of a 3-member Nominating Committee, that is
required for the upcoming Election of Chapter Officers and BOD members for 2021-2022. Our chapter elections
will take place at the monthly April 14, 2021 chapter meeting. VVA Chapter Officers and BOD Officers each
serve a 2-year term. The 3 members selected to serve on the Nomination Committee are:
- Louis Milder
- Harold Piekert
- Bob Supak
The purpose of the Nomination Committee is to solicite candidate nominations for chapter officer positions,
President, Vice-President, and Secretary/Treasurer, along with Board of Directors positions (our chapter has
4 total BOD members). The committee must then submit the slate of candidates at our March 10th chapter meeting.
And again, our chapter election will be held at our April 14th monthly chapter meeting.
The newly selected Nomination Committee will shortly be mailing out letters to all our membership, asking if
anyone would like to serve as a Chapter Officer or BOD Officer, for years 2021-2022.
If you would like to ‘throw your hat into the ring”, please contact any of the Nomination Committee members
when your letter arrives, or contact any of the current chapter Officers or BOD members.
We realize that these are stressing times for our families, and for our chapter survival. The current
chapter officers and BOD members appreciate the support you've shown the past year. And we do feel our
chapter is as strong as ever. Please consider running for an officer or BOD position in our chapter.
Our current chapter Officers:
- President: Frank Laitkep
- Vice-President: Leonard Sternadel
- Secretary/Treasurer: John Steelman
Our current BOD (Board of Directors):
- Richard Woods
- Billy Orsak
- Ronnie Miller
- Bob Supak

Leonard then announced that the granddaughter of Chapter members, Calvin and Mary Mahlmann, was the
recipient of a $750.00 VVA Texas State Council (TSC) 2020 scholarship. The VVA TSC oversees all the VVA
Chapters in Texas. Congratulations to the Mahlmann family! Note that a formal awards ceremony is planned
for the Mahlmann family, at a later date, during one of our chapter meeting, pending the status of the
current Covid-19 pandemic.
Also note that the Mahlmann's grandson, Allen Jeffery was the recipient of a $1,000.00 VVA Texas
State Council (TSC) 2017 scholarship! Use the link below to read the details of Allen's award
and essay, in our August 2017 chapter meeting report.

Leonard then mentioned that our VVA TSC (Texas State Council) has just scheduled a meeting for April, again being held
in Beaumont, TX. This would be 1 of 2 meetings the TSC normally holds yearly. However, because of the Covid-19 pandemic that
started in March of last year, the TSC had canceled all meetings that were scheduled for last year. Usually, each Texas
chapter would send two delegates to a TSC meeting. Most likely we will not be sending any delegates to this meeting,
but does still depend on the status of the Covid-19 pandemic, by then.
-
Our Next chapter meeting is Wednesday, February 10, 2021.
-
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
