VVA Chapter 1069 Meeting Report for: Jan 1-11-2023

• The meeting was held at Mikeska’s BBQ, (located on Hwy 59) El Campo, TX. The chapter would like to thank Mikeska family for advertising our chapter meeting on their electronic color sign. See photo above.

• The Pledge of Allegiance to the flag was recited and a prayer was said.
• The main item on the agenda for this meeting was the selection of a 3-member Nominating Committee, that is required for the upcoming Election of Chapter Officers and BOD members for 2023-2025. Our chapter elections will take place at the monthly April 12, 2023 chapter meeting. VVA Chapter Officers and BOD Officers each serve a 2-year term. The 3 members selected to serve on the Nomination Committee are:
  - Bob Supak (Chairman)
  - Billy Orsak
  - Ronnie Miller
  
  The purpose of the Nomination Committee is to solicite candidate nominations for chapter officer positions, President, Vice-President, and Secretary/Treasurer, along with Board of Directors positions (our chapter has 4 total BOD members). The committee must then submit the slate of candidates at our March 8th chapter meeting. And again, our chapter election will be held at our April 12th monthly chapter meeting.
  The newly selected Nomination Committee will shortly be mailing out letters to all our membership, asking if anyone would like to serve as a Chapter Officer or BOD Officer, for years 2023-2025. If you would like to ‘throw your hat into the ring”, please contact any of the Nomination Committee members when your letter arrives, or contact any of the current chapter Officers or BOD members.

  - Secretary/Treasurer: John Steelman

  - Prudencio Arriaga

• The upcoming March 29, 2023, National Vietnam War Veterans Day Celebration scheduled to be held in Columbus, Texas, was discussed. More information forthcoming at the next chapter meeting.
• Jessica Collard (see photo below), the Service Officer for Wharton County gave out some really good information regarding the new PACT ACT Bill. That Bill does contain things that apply not only to the newer veterans, but also to us Vietnam veterans.
  
• Photos below show the formal hanging of the chapter's new Members Memorial plaque on the wall behind the podium.

  The plaque was officially presented to the chapter at the July 7-14-2022 chapter meeting by Secretary/Treasurer John Steelman.   Note that the plaque is enclosed in a glass case (shadow box) for security purposes. Another big Thank-You goes out to chapter member, David Wagner, for making the case. Nice job David!

• The bi-annual VVA Texas State Council (TSC) meeting will be held April 1-3, 2023, in Texarkana, TX. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ATTENDING PLEASE CONTACT CHAPTER SECRETARY, JOHN STEELMAN, FOR THE REGISTRATION FORM.
