Membership Application Information

Note that the special instructions below should be used when joining the National VVA organization, and you specifically want to be attached to the Texas VVA Chapter #1069, located in El Campo, Texas (this chapter).

Membership Rate: Note that as of October, 2018, the VVA has dropped the 1-yr and 2-yr membership categories. The VVA now only offers a Lifetime membership at a one time fee of $50.

Eligibility Requirements (Vienam War Era Service Dates):

• February 28, 1961 - May 7, 1975 (in-country active duty Republic of Vietnam)
• August 5, 1964 - May 7, 1975 (any duty location)

To request membership in the VVA National organization, and to specifically become a member of VVA Chapter 1069, El Campo, Texas, perform the steps below.

Step 1: Fill out a VVA National Membership Application form. Use the VVA link below to print a copy of the VVA national membership application form. It is in PDF format. You may also pick up the same form at any of our Chapter meetings.

Step 2: Fill out the VVA Membership Application Form. Be sure to take special note of the following items on the form:

• In the field that asks for 'Chapter Number:', enter "#1069"
• In the field that asks for 'Sponsor:', enter "John Steelman" (Chapter 1069 Secretary/Treasurer)
• Check the LIFE membership box.
• In the lower right area of the form, titled: "Add Local Chapter Information Here", write in the following information for our chapter. This will ensure that VVA National assigns you to our chapter - VVA Chapter 1069.

• And of course, fill out the remaining information on the form as appropriate.

Step 3: Fill out a VVA Chapter 1069 Member Information form. The information you provide on this 2nd form is used by the Chapter and provides us with such basic information as your mailing address, email address, telephone numbers, etc. It also provides us with the information that you would like to have inscribed on your chapter membership ID badge, which you may then wear to chapter meetings and chapter functions. The cost of the badge is picked up by the chapter and is free to you. Click on the link below to view or print the form. It is in PDF format.

Step 4: Acquire a valid copy of your military DD Form - 214. Do NOT include your original DD-214 with the application!

Step 5: Perform one of the following two methods to turn in your application paperwork. Do NOT mail the application paperwork directly to the National VVA organization!

• Method 1: Mail Application Paperwork to Chapter 1069 Secretary: Mail the filled out VVA Membership Application Form AND the VVA Chapter 1069 Member Information Form, along with your DD-214 and a personal check (payable to: Vietnam Veterans of America) for the membership rate (you have selected), to the Chapter 1069 mailing address shown below. Our Chapter Secretary will verify all information is correct, make copies for our records, and then finally mail the information on to the National VVA organization. Within a few weeks, you should receive your VVA Chapter 1069 membership card in the mail.

• Method 2: Hand-Carry Application Paperwork to a Monthly Chapter 1069 Meeting: You may bring all application paperwork - VVA Membership Application form, VVA Chapter 1069 Member Information Form, your DD-214 and Dues payment with you to any of our monthly Chapter meetings. Our Chapter officers will verify all information is correct, make copies for our records, and then finally mail the information on to the National VVA organization. Within a few weeks, you should receive your VVA Chapter 1069 membership card in the mail.
