2013 Christmas Parade Pics by Paul F.:
[posted on: 12-17-2013]
The pictures on this page were taken by Chapter member, Paul F. on the afternoon and night of the parade.
Much thanks goes out to Paul for taking the pictures.
These daylight pictures were taken on Thursday afternoon while the float was being prepared for the night parade.
Some say the float sort of resembled one of those military beach landing crafts.
Again, much thanks goes out to James K. for allowing the float to be parked at his place of business on parade day
and letting all of us guys hang around his shop and work on the float. Despite the cold & windy weather, it
was a fun afternoon!
Above photo shows some of the float 'build' crew that braved the cold & windy weather that afternoon.
Leonard Sternadel, president of the Chapter, wants to thank all those who came out to help put the float together,
and to those who came out to ride the float in the parade - it was definately not any warmer on Thursday night
while we were riding on the float!
Above photo shows the parade float parked at the parade staging point.
Now it's pretty much the same as being in the military: "Hurry Up And Wait!"
A good photo showing the awesome Christmas tree sitting atop the float bunker. If you look close, you can just see
the sound-man sitting inside the bunker. Also take note of the very cool. and realistic looking, radio antenna positioned next to the bunker.
Much thanks goes out to James Kulcak for building it! And while we're here, a big thanks also goes out to James' son Paul, for all his
help with building the float!
Although not everyone is pictured in the above photo, there were 13 total Chapter members who participated in the float build and
actually rode the float in the parade. They were: Leonard Sternadel, Bob Supak, James Kulcak, Kenneth Sternadel, Jimmie Neuman, Frank Laitkep,
Lupe Ortiz, Louis Milder, Paul Francoeur, Dan Medrano, Rusty Butts, Fred Imler & Ron Miller.
Also note the sign hanging on the side of the float - an advertisement for our Chapter's website address.
We now have two of these signs to use for various Chapter functions/events to help promote our Chapter's websight.
Still waiting for the parade to start - "HURRY UP, IT'S DARN COLD OUT HERE!"
Looks like Jimmie is having a good time - he must have just gotten a good-one over on James.
In above photo, I think Kenneth is saying: "BOB, WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!"
And Bob is saying: "I think James payed way too much for these light sabers!"
However, James gets last laugh - the light sabers provide perfect flashing light effect for end of mortar tubes!
And here we go! Again, Leonard wants to thank all those who came out to help put the float together, and
to those who came out to ride the float in the parade. In the end, the float was a beauty and she did win
3rd place in the parade, in the Non-Commercial category! Let's do it again next year, but make the float bigger & better!
