The Vietnam Veterans of America, VVA Chapter 1069, of El Campo, would like to thank the "Daughters of the American Revolution" (DAR) "Comfort Wood" Chapter, of Wharton County, for hosting the "Tribute to Vietnam Veterans" program. The program was hosted by the "Comfort Wood Chapter" of the Wharton County "Daughters of the American Revolution" (DAR). Click on the above photo to view or print the high-res version of the photo.
Note1: The 3rd person from the left, top row, is Carol Wootton. She is the Wharton County representative for Texas Congressman, Blake Farenthold, and was one of the guest speakers at the program.
Note2: The 3rd person from the right, top row, is Matt Minor. He is a representative for Phil Stephenson (our Texas State Representative), and was one of the guest speakers at the program.
The guest speaker was Albert Nahas, Colonel, USA Retired (see above photo). He is a Vietnam Veteran and served with the 101st Airborne Division, July 1968 to February 1970. He is also the author of a book called "Warriors Remembered: Vietnam Veterans - Welcome Home". Nahas is from Sugarland and spent 6 years traveling 35,000 miles to compile photographs and stories about Vietnam memorials in all 50 states.

Above photo shows the President of the Wharton County DAR "Comfort Wood" Chapter, Hazel Foltyn, opening the Program. Again, VVA Chapter 1069 of El Campo, would like to express their thanks and appreciation to the DAR Chapter of Wharton County, for hosting this "Tribute to Vietnam Veterans" Program, and for the much appreciated "WELCOME HOME" given at the Program.
Above photo shows Matt Minor, a representative for Phil Stephenson, our Texas State Representative from Austin. Phil could not attend the event because of scheduling conflict.
Above photo shows Sarah Hudgins of Wharton County playing the role of Program coordinator. Sarah was also instrumental in organizing and promoting the Program.
Above photo - The local DAR chapter also provided a small luncheon for all those attending the event. Probably a 100 or more guests attended the program.
The above image shows the Wharton County Historical Museum, the place where the DAR program was held. Even though many of the Chapter members & spouses that attended the Program do live in the Wharton County area, they had never visited the Museum and were quite surprised at the size of the Museum and the historic value of the Museum contents! If you have not yet paid a visit to this museum, you really should do so - it will be well worth the trip and something you will enjoy very much. Congratulations to those who have obviously put a tremendous amount of work into building this fine historical museum.
