The Garwood/Nada Gadabouts sponsored a Veterans Appreciation Day on Saturday, June 15, 2017, in Garwood Texas. Several members of VVA Chapter 1069, including our President Leonard Sternadel and his spouse Dana, attended the event. The event was held at the Lehrer Memorial United Methodist Church, in Garwood, Texas. The main theme for this year's Veteran Appreciation Day event was to honor all Vietnam Veterans. There was quite a turnout for the event and everyone had a great time. Leonard Sternadel gave a short Veterans memorial welcome, after which the short 22 minute video of the Vietnam Memorial Traveling Wall visit to El Campo in 2015 was shown to those in attendance. A very fine meal was also served to everyone in attendance - AND WHAT GREAT FOOD IT WAS!
VVA Chapter 1069 would like to thank all the ladies & men of the Garwood/Nada "Gadabout" society for inviting our members to the event. The Chapter would also like to thank all the volunteers who helped make the event a success. It was much appreciated. This webpage contains a summary report, along with many photos taken at the event.

Leonard Sternadel, President of VVA (Vietnam Veterans of America) Chapter 1069 was the guest speaker for the event.
Part of Leonard's presentation was ths showing of a 22 minute documentary video of the Vietnam Memorial Traveling Wall, when it came to
El Campo in 2015. The video is titled "Names On The Wall". Chapter member, Bob Supak, also attended the event and setup the video and
audio equipment used to show the video. When the Vietnam Traveling Wall came to El Campo, VVA Chapter 1069 was a major participant in
the 3-day event and did organize a special "Rose Ceremony" for the event. The ceremony honored 22 Wharton County soldiers who were killed
in Vietnam. Use the link below to read a full report of that ceremony, along with many photos.
