After years of entering photos in the VVA National's yearly Calendar Photo Contest, Texas VVA Chapter 1069 finally wins a photo spot in VVA National's 2021 Calendar Contest for the VVA 2022 Calendar, for the month of September! (see 2022 calendar cover in photo at left). The photos we sent in year after year were taken from our participation in the Vietnam Memorial Traveling Wall when it came to El Campo, Texas, back in 2015. This was our chapter's finest hour of participating in a very special event and ceremony. |
For those chapter members who did not get your 2022 calendar from VVA National, you may use the links below or click on the images to view the high resolution image, which you may then either print to your local printer or first copy to your computer, and then print the image. Tape the two images together and you now have a copy of the VVA Calendar 2022, month of September, ready to hang in your office and enjoy, or keep as a rememberance of our chapter's participation in the event.
See the image at the bottom of this page that shows what it looks like when you print and then tape the two images together to make the month of Setptember calendar.

The above is a scanned image of the actual month of September taken from the 2022 calendar. And, the above calendar image includes 3 of the many photos that were sent into the calendar contest, and of course were used in the calendar for the month of September.
(1st photo top) Shows all our chapter's members that participated in the special ceremony.
(2nd photo left) Shows chapter member, Augie Limas, kneeling at the wall during the ceremony, placing a red rose at the foot of the wall for the Vietnam War soldier whose name has just been called out over the PA system.
(3rd photo right) Shows some of the small white crosses that the chapter made for the ceremony.
Below is the actual text shown below the pictures in the calender...
HONOR: During a visit from The Wall that Heals, VVA Chapter 1069 holds a public memorial ceremony to honor the 28 soldiers of Wharton County, TX, who were KIA or MIA during the Vietnam War. White crosses made by Chapter members and personalized memorial booklets were displayed for each soldier along the wall. As each soldier's name was announced, a chapter member placed a red rose at the base of each white cross and saluted. The crosses and memorial booklets were then presented to the family members of those honored during the ceremony.

I printed this on my home printer. This is the same full size September month page as seen in the actual calendar. Be sure when you print the above two images, you select "Landscape" and "Fill Frame" print features. Note that we will have/bring some of these same September month printouts at the next chapter meeting for our membership to take home.
As stated above, the photos we would send in year after year were taken from our participation in the Vietnam Memorial Traveling Wall when it came to El Campo, Texas, back in 2015. For our new members, use the link below to read the full report on our chapter's participation in that event. 28 of our members participated in that special ceremony along with our chapter making the 28 small white and black crosses to be used in the ceremony and later given to the family members of the corresponding KIA and MIA Veteran.
