Chapter Member, Augie Limas, Honored in Centerville Texas - October 15, 2022

Long time Chapter member Augie Limas (photo below) was honored for his Vietnam War service at the Leon County Expo Center in Centerville Texas and nearby Leon County Exhibit hall in Buffalo Texas, on Saturday, October 15th, 2022.

The event was a Veterans Benefits Celebration and Honor Ceremony, where he and 10 other Veterans were honored for their military service and presented with various awards and gifts during a gala event held on Saturday night.

Special daytime events included; Opening live entertainment by Phillip Griffin Band Various events were scheduled during the day for both the Veterans and the public, and included Skeet Shoot competition, A Corn Hole Tournament, and a Co-Ed Softball Tournament. A special evening gala event to honor the Veterans included dinner, drinks, and live and silent auction raffles. NOTE that the event admission and dinner were FREE for veterans & spouses! The day's events also included a concert featuring "Creed Fisher" and his "Rebel of the South" 2022 tour band.

The above photo shows VVA 1069 Chapter member, Augie Limas (circled in red), along with the other 10 Veteran Honories, being introduced to everyone present, after their arrival to Centerville on Thursday. Each Veteran was given a welcome gift package, as seen on the ground in front of them.

The above photo was taken on Friday night, where all 11 veteran honories were presented with a brand new shotgun, along with other goodies, in preparation for the next day's (Saturday) scheduled skeet shoot event, in which they all participated in.

The above photo shows the beautiful "Quilt Of Honor" Blanket that was given to each of the 11 Veteran Honories. The quilts were hand-made by a group called "Quilts Of Honor", whose mission is to bestow a universal symbol and token of thanks, solace, and remembrance to those who serve in harm’s way to protect and defend our lives and freedoms.

The above photo shows the 3rd Honor Blanket with Texas regency. It shows the detail information panel for Augie's quilt. Quilts of Honor are made by the loving hands of countless volunteers who wish to thank those who have served and to honor their service and sacrifice.
