Veterans Family Day Outing - Ryan Lake - Nov 12, 2022
[posted on: 11-17-2022]
It was another great Veterans Day outing & celebration for VVA chapter 1069 members, spouses and
their family members at Mike Ryan's lake property! See photo below. The turnout was pretty good with
20+ chapter members attening the event, along with their spouses and family members, resulting in a
pretty large crowd of folks!
Photo above shows the VVA Chapter 1069 members that attended the event.
What a good looking bunch of Vietnam Veterans!

We had a great turnout for the Veterans Day Family outing held at Mike Ryan's lake on Saturday, 11-12-2022.
Above photo shows the Ryan lake and attendees gathering on the large deck.
The weather was a bit chilly and windy, but there were beautiful blue skies overhead. Mike Ryan, as usual was
a wonderful host for our chapter members and their families. The food was great. Much thanks to all those who
brought some great deserts! It was really great to see the young ones (and older ones) catching fish, and for
some of the young ones, it was the first time they have actually caught a fish!
In all, everyone had a great time. And of course, a big THANK-YOU to Mike Ryan for again hosting a wonderful
Veterans Family Day celebration outing for our chapter members and their family members! And be sure, if anytime
you run into Mike in town, be sure to thank him for inviting us out to his property, and being such a great
supporter of chapter 1069.
Also a big thanks to chapter officers, Larry Monroe and John Steelman (and other chapter members) for organizing,
planning and helping setup the event. It’s much appreciated by the membership.
Above photo shows (left to right) chapter members, Mark Pilcik (The Ferris Wheel Man),
chapter secretary/treasurer and chapter co-founder, John Steelman, past chapter president and chapter
co-founder, Leonard Sternadel, and Ronnie Miller. Great picture!
Above photo shows chapter VP, Larry Monroe, getting ready to catch some fish!
Above and below photos showing everyone in moment of prayer before taking part in the luncheon feast.
Above and below photos shows everyone "chowing down" for some great food that Mike had catered for the event.
And a big thanks to all those who brought the wonderful deserts!
The menu included grilled chicken, pork steaks, hot dogs, gravy, mashed potatoes and green beans.
Some folks ate their meal under the metal building...
...And some folks ate their meal under the large tent that Mike had provided out under the trees.
Mike Ryan does know how to host a celebration event for our chapter membership!
Above and below pictures show the Ferris Wheel that Mark Pilcik brought/pulled to the event from Wharton, and
then taking it back!
And, a BIG thanks goes out to chapter member Mark Pilcik (and crew) for bringing/pulling the kiddie ferris wheel
to the event. See above and below pictures. Because of its age, it is a slow and hazardous trek pulling the wheel
to Mike's property, and then of course, taking it back. Many of the grandkids were very happy riding on the ferris
wheel during the day. Thanks again Mark!
And there's the man in the cowboy hat - Mike Ryan! Thanks Mike for hosting a Veterans Family Day celebration
for our chapter membership!
Lot's of fish were caught during the day as above photo shows. This is really a great event to bring the
grandkids to and let them catch fish, and maybe their first fish!
Above photo shows the old man, Mark Pilcik, teaching the young kid, his grandson, how to put a worm on the hook.
This is how it's supposed to be done.
Nice job Mark!
And coming too soon, it was time to go. Above photo shows chapter member, Augie Limas, saying his good-bys
to everyone.
It was another wonderful Family Day Outing for our chapter members & families at the Mike Ryan Lake.
Everone had a wonderful time and everyone thanks Mike Ryan for inviting our chapter membership out to
his lake property. He is truly a great supportor of all Veterans and is a good friend of VVA Chapter 1069.
