The monthly VVA chapter 1069 meeting was held in the big banquet room at Mikeska's BBQ (located on Hwy 59), in El Campo, Tx.
-
VVA Chapter 1069 President, Leonard Sternadel, declared the meeting open at 1900 hours and the
following business was transacted.
-
We had another great turnout at this month's meeting - 41 members and 13 guests! - A BIG Thanks to all those who attended!
-
The following Board members were present: Sternadel, Steelman, F. Kulcak, Mahlmann, Woods, Neumann and Supak.
-
The Pledge of Allegiance to the flag was recited and a prayer was said.
-
Sternadel introduced members and guests of an organization called Family Endeavors. The group
is in the area to provide VSS (Veteran's Supportive Services) to those affected by hurricane Harvey. The programs are targeted
towards low income families. The representative stated they were on site to assist anyone with questions they might have
regarding Hurricane Harvey flooding or any other Veteran related issues or help. One of the attending members gave a short
presentation - see photo below.
The Mission of Family Endeavors is to provide comprehensive, effective, and innovative services that empower people to build
better lives for themselves, their families, and their communities. We believe in people. We believe in their capacity to grow,
to heal, to change, to succeed, and to affect those around them for the better.
Their Veteran Services Program
offers Homelessness Prevention & Stabilization Services to Veterans and their families in Texas, Alabama, Florida and
North Carolina. These supportive services include outreach, case management, help in obtaining VA benefits, emergency
financial assistance for rent & utilities and assistance in obtaining and coordinating other public benefits.

Sternadel then reminded everyone that "Vietnam Veteran's Family Day" would be held on Saturday, November 11, Veteran's Day,
at Mike Ryan's Lake. Mark your calendars! Please try and attend - this will be a great opportunity for all of us (members, spouses & family members)
to get together and have some fun and eat some good food. Mike is a great supportor of our chapter, so we should all make an effort to attend. Click
on the link below to see some photos of last year's event - everyone had a great time! Maps showing how to get to Mike's Lake will be available at
the next chapter meeting. Again note that Mike encourages all you fishermen to bring your fishing gear - the lake is full of big bass.
