Many members, spouses & family members (perhaps 70 or more) of the Vietnam Veterans of America, VVA Chapter 1069, of El Campo, attended the Vietnam Veterans Family Day event at Ryan Lake.
Above below shows chapter members & spouses gathering behind the lakeside party shed. Folks started showing up around 12:30.
Leonard Sternadel, President of VVA Chapter 1069 would like to thank all those VVA chapter members, spouses and their family members that attended the event. We had a really big turnout of members, spouses and other family members. We had quite a few grandkids this year which was great. A BIG Thank-You goes out from the entire membership of VVA Chapter 1069 to Mike Ryan & Family for hosting the event and being a big supporter of all Veterans in Wharton County.
Above photo shows the "Bouncy House" that was setup for the kids.
It didn't take long after folks started to arrive that the serious fishing began. Above photo - The Sternadels are in the forground, and the Laitkeps in the background.
Above photo - What a beautiful site! By the way, anyone know what the 17 stars on the VVA flag represent?

Looks like the Laitkeps & grandkids are having a fun fishing day!
Above photo - Folks starting to gather under the nice lakeside cover - looks like lots of discussions in progress.
Looks like lots of fishing gear preparation going on in above photo. Bet those grandkids learned a lot about fishing from Papa that day.
Hey! Who invited those guys!
Fish ON!! Looks like fishing lesson 101 is working.
OK - Now we're having fun! Much thanks to Leonard for bringing out his brand new fishing boat. I hear that it handles really well in Matagorda Bay.
Above photo - After a while, a pretty good crowd gathers to watch big fish (Talipia) being caught and everyone taking turns trying out the new boat.
Looks like there's a waiting line for boat rides! Hey, looks to me like Kenneth wants to get a turn in that boat! I know for sure, everyone had a great time in that boat.
Uh-Oh, Anyone know what's the weight limit on that boat? Someone later said the boat had quite a starboard list during this trip, but we don't have any proof of that.
Well wait a minute, maybe we do ... Aw, come on - it's not listing that much.
Drum roll please ... Above photo shows the fisherman along with her BIG fish - and as a matter of fact, the biggest fish (Talapia) caught that afternoon. It was a site to see her reel in that big fish! The Talipia were really biting - by the end of the evening, the Supaks went home with 6 of these similar sized fish.
Above photo - Yeehaw, even Frankie gets his turn to take a spin in the boat with a full load of passengers.
Above photo - Folks start gathering for an afternoon lunch. Mike had a really nice area and tent cover setup. On the menu were hamburgers and tube steaks. The food was great!
Just another opportunity to get together with fellow Veterans and have a good time.
We really do have a great bunch of Veterans and Spouses (and kids & grandkids) in this Chapter!
Above photo - Uh-Oh, Those two (in the middle) again!
And before we forget, thanks to all those who brought those wonderful deserts!
And finally, the above photo shows the vehicle that we all wish we could drive to the Vietnam Veterans Family Day outing. She's a beauty! It is ALMOST the perfect Vietnam Veterans Day car - the only thing Robert needs to add are some RED pin stripes on the side of the car and a big RED racing stripe right down the middle.
