Many members, spouses & family members of the Vietnam Veterans of America, VVA Chapter 1069, of El Campo, Texas, attended a Vietnam Veterans Family Day outing at Ryan Lake, on Saturday, November 10, 2018.
The outing was hosted by Mike Ryan (far left in group photo above), a great supporter of all local Veterans organizations and Veterans. Thanks Mike, for supporting our chapter!
It was a bit chilly this particular Saturday, so Mike started a nice fire in his huge fire pit. It turned out to be a very popular gathering place later in the afternoon and into the dark.
Above photo shows all chapter members that attended the outing, except for one! However, we did take his photo later so he would not feel 'left out' - see below.
Well, it never fails - there's always that one guy that misses out on the group photo.
HA - Just kidding Mike. Above photo shows Chapter member, Mike Harbaugh. Mike is also the Veterans Service Officer

Well, the Sternadel grand girls (above) were the big fishermen at this year's outing! I think they maybe cleaned out all the Tilapia that were in Mike's lake. They kept grandma & grandpa pretty busy!
Frank, Leonard & John - 3 happy guys!
And again - a big thanks to Mike Ryan (with the white cowboy hat - very appropriate) for hosting another Veterans Family Day outing for our membership!
Photo above - I think there's an important story being told.
Above photo - Yes, the fire pit was a popular gathering place on this particular Saturday.
Getting close to meal time, which included grilled pork steaks & chicken, with green beans & buttered potatoes on the side. Really was good!
Mike has an awesome flagpole (lighted) on the property - makes for great pictures.
Just a great place to have a Family gathering.
By the time it got dark, the fire was really glowing as everyone gathered around it. A good way to end the day.
In closing, Leonard Sternadel, President of VVA Chapter 1069 would like to thank all those VVA chapter members, spouses and their family members that attended the outing. Despite the cold weather, we had a good turnout of members, spouses and other family members. A BIG Thank-You goes out from the entire membership of VVA Chapter 1069 to Mike Ryan & Family for hosting the event and being a big supporter of our chapter all Veterans in and around Wharton County.
Note that this is the 3rd year Mike has hosted a Family Day Outing for our chapter membership. Use the two links below to see the full report (with pictures) for both of those past two outings.
